Conscious Production
Softrock is a project of creation — and of family. Everything is made by hand, with time and intention. We believe in a slower way of working and living, where each piece exists because it matters — not out of impulse, not in excess.
We are rooted in Ericeira, Portugal, and use locally sourced materials whenever possible. Waste is avoided by producing exclusively to order, honouring both the time it takes to create and the time it takes to wait.
Sustainability
Sustainability is a daily commitment. For us, it means making conscious choices: creating less, but with greater care, meaning and longevity — and looking after what already exists.
We recognise that certain materials, like the flexible coating we use on our pieces, are not easily replaced. While plastic carries a heavy reputation, it is also a highly efficient material when used responsibly — lightweight, durable and long-lasting. The real issue lies in disposability and overproduction, not in the material itself.
That’s why this coating is applied by hand, in only the necessary amounts, with a clear intention: to ensure each piece lasts for many years.
Reused Packaging
When it comes time to ship, we apply the same principle: avoid creating new waste. We reuse cardboard boxes, often collected from factories or shops that discard these materials daily, even when they’re still in perfect condition.
If a package arrives with a different name, colour or unexpected branding — it means we’ve given it another life. In many cases, we hand-paint the boxes, just like we do the pieces inside — choosing to transform our identity from something that already existed.
Design as Purpose
Softrock is drawn to projects that challenge us artistically and resonate with our values. Each piece is more than a decorative object — it lives somewhere between art and design. A utilitarian sculpture, made to be felt, lived with, inhabited.
And like all things made with love, each piece deserves to be treated with care.
